Tilt is an iOS app of mini puzzles in a vertical feed. This page says exactly what the app keeps on your phone, what it sends elsewhere, and why.
Who is responsible
Julien Montagne, publisher of Tilt, as an individual. Contact: hello@julienmontagne.com.
There is no account and no server of ours
Tilt asks for no name, no email address and no password, and there is no sign-in. Puzzles are generated on your phone. We run no server that stores anything about you.
What stays on your phone
- Your settings: language, the games you keep in the feed and the level of each, the daily reminder and its time.
- Your progress: puzzles solved, streaks, XP and level, and whether you have seen the intro.
- A random identifier, created on first launch. It is derived from nothing about you or your device.
Deleting the app removes all of this from the phone.
What is sent elsewhere
| What | To whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The random identifier, and your purchases (which product you hold, whether it is active, when it expires) | RevenueCat, United States | To know whether Tilt Plus is active and to restore it. Apple handles the payment itself: we never see your name, address or card. |
| A short fixed list of events (see below) with the random identifier, plus device model, iOS version, app version, language and time zone | PostHog, United States | To understand how the app is used and to improve it. PostHog also receives the IP address the request comes from and may use it to estimate an approximate location. |
| The app version, platform and the IP address of the request | Expo, which delivers app updates | So the app can check for and download an update. |
Automatic capture is off: no screen recording, no session replay, no tap tracking. Only these events are sent: the app being opened, the intro being completed, the subscription screen being viewed or closed, a purchase starting, succeeding or failing, and a restore of purchases.
Notifications
There is one optional daily reminder, off by default. It is scheduled by the app on your own phone. Nothing is pushed from a server and no push token is collected. Turning it off in Tilt or in iOS Settings stops it completely.
What Tilt does not do
- No advertising, no advertising identifier, no third-party ad network.
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites, and no data sold or shared for advertising.
- No location, contacts, photo library, microphone or health data.
- No social features. Nothing you do in the app is visible to anyone else.
How long it is kept
What is on your phone stays until you delete the app. Purchase records are kept by RevenueCat and analytics events by PostHog, each under its own retention policy, until you ask for them to be deleted.
Deleting what we hold
Deleting the app erases everything on your phone. The customer record RevenueCat keeps for your purchases and the events PostHog received are not on your phone: to have them deleted, write to hello@julienmontagne.com from the phone or give the identifier you are asked for. It is done within 30 days.
A subscription is not cancelled by this. It belongs to your Apple ID: cancel it in iOS Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, at the address above. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal basis is the performance of the service you asked for (providing your purchase) and our legitimate interest in running and improving the app (analytics). You may object to that processing and you may complain to your supervisory authority; in France, that is the CNIL. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those words are defined there.
Children
Tilt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Who processes data for us
- Apple: the App Store, payment, and the subscription itself.
- RevenueCat: purchase status.
- PostHog: analytics.
- Expo: delivery of app updates.
These providers are based in the United States, so the data they process for us leaves the European Union.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a feature that collects more data is added, such as a sign-in or new analytics events, this page will say so before it is available in the app.
